About StatesideCalc

StatesideCalc is an independent reference site with one premise: a calculator for US taxes, pay or housing is only as good as the state data behind it, and most calculators use a national average instead.

The United States does not have one tax system. It has a federal system plus fifty-one others, and the differences are not rounding errors — the same salary can produce take-home pay thousands of dollars apart across a state line, the same hours can earn overtime in one state and none in another, and the same house can carry a property tax bill four times higher depending on where it sits. Our calculators are built around those differences rather than averaging them away.

How the numbers are maintained

Every jurisdiction-specific figure on this site — tax brackets, wage bases, sales tax rates, overtime thresholds — lives in a versioned dataset with three things attached: the primary source it came from, the date it was last verified, and a verification flag.

That flag is enforced by the software, not by good intentions. Until a figure has been checked against its primary source — an IRS publication, a state revenue department schedule, a state labor code — the calculator that uses it displays a visible “provisional figures” notice. We would rather show you an honest caveat than a confident wrong answer.

The full sourcing and correction policy is described in oureditorial standards.

What this site is not

StatesideCalc provides general information and estimates. It is not tax advice, legal advice or financial advice, and it does not know your full situation — your W-4, your deductions, your county's exact rates, your plan's fine print. Every calculator states what it leaves out, and for decisions that matter we link to the official source so you can verify before acting.

How the site is funded

The site is free to use and may display advertising. Advertisers have no input into which calculators exist, what the figures say or what the articles conclude. If we ever publish content involving a commercial relationship, it will be labeled as such on the page.
